 The Story of a Movie That Didn't Get Made "Defense of Medina"

In this project, it was aimed to film the defense of Medina as Ottoman soil by Ghazi Omar Fahreddin Pasha, who was appointed as the commander of the Hejaz Kuvve-i Seferiyyesi on July 15, 1916, until January 13, 1919, despite the surrender of the Ottoman Empire after the signing of the Armistice of Mudros on October 31, 1918.

 

In this study, before the presentation of the treatment (pre-script) written by Metin Erksan and Mustafa Kutlu in the spring and summer of 1973, following the information shared on Metin Erksan's world of thought and cinema, periodical information and original visuals from the 1900s on Fahreddin Pasha, the Hejaz region and the railway were included in order to understand and imagine the climate of the period more easily.

 

Following this information and visuals, the processes of the Medina Defense film work; In addition to the information conveyed by Ezel Erverdi in his books, face-to-face interviews with him, and the visuals that have been meticulously preserved in his archive for years are presented to the reader by including information obtained from other sources.
